Google Strikes Again with their latest update to Google Adsense Reporting. Wow, I don’t know what is going on with Google these days, but they keep making changes to solid Google brand products and services that we have all come to know and love and for some reason making them less intuitive and less useful and just plain worse! They have been messing with Google Reader, YouTube, Feedburner, and much more. Why, make great products worse?
So the new Google Adsense Reporting UI Dashboard appears much cleaner and easier to use at first glance, but upon further investigation offers a greatly reduced level of flexibility and control. One thing I have always hated and still do is when a monetization reporting dashboard does offer the option for custom date ranges. When creating accounting reports, it is extremely critical for the reporting software to simply allow you to pick your own dates to determine how much revenue you have generated for a specific time period. This is especially true when you have to log into 35 dashboards and generate numbers for each account. When you are not able to select a custom date, you are then forced to create that custom date by hand. Yeah, it isn’t hard to do a little math, but if you had to create a custom report and do all the custom math for each account it would take all day.
So just when I thought all hope was lost, I notice that when logging in to my Google Adsense account, for some reason they have been defaulting to the mobile version. So I looked to the bottom of the page and found a “Classic Version” link and problem solved! My old intuitive Adsense Dashboard was back. Now I know 🙂
This might be a sign as to how much mobile is growing and demands our attention.
